domain of expertise
Areas of competences of experts or organisations.
Areas of competences are divided into four main categories: arts, science, engineering and philosophy. Each category is then organised in a hierarchical structure that formally defines relationships of different domains of expertise.
The higher level in the hierarchical organisation a domains of expertise takes, the larger its semantic field is.
Memoria IS provides two distinct classifications of domains of expertise corresponding to two distinct visions: a classical one, corresponding to four great families of expertise (science, engineering, philosophy and arts) and the second classification that organises domains of expertise by methods of reasoning (classification proposed by T. Kotarbiński).

e.g., engineering> civil engineering> geomatics
