source
The term ‘source’ corresponds to any external piece of information and knowledge, raw data or material that is used in order to carry out an activity. It may be digital or not. A source can correspond to an individual item (e.g., a sketch, a panorama, a text), or to a collection (homogeneous or not - e.g., collection of photographs, floor plans) of items.
Categories of sources are differentiated through a set of classes defining types and subtypes.
Do not confuse the notion of ‘source’ with this of ‘input’ which is always the result of a process described and stored in MEMORIA.

e.g., a collection of 19th century maps, a book, an article, survey results - as far as they are external resources
