Each term is further defined in order to circumscribe its exact meaning.

software
A set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific operations. Computer software consists of computer programs, libraries and related non-executable data (such as online documentation or digital media).
For the purpose of further analysis or reuse of digital files described in Memoria, we store information about a status of particular software such as its category (e.g., 3D computer graphics, text editors), whether it is a freeware or not, whether it is an open source or not, whether it a web-based program only, and in case of programs developed by our means, information stating that a given program is an internal application.
